Guided Tour of St. Thomas’ Steeple
A tour of the steeple of St. Thomas Church is the perfect addition to any Leipzig program. 50 meters above Leipzig and only 232 steps from the churchyard, you will experience a magnificent panoramic view of the city. The ascent itself already includes interesting stops along the way. You will see the graffiti of a Saxon artillerist from the time of the Battle of the Nations as well as a cannon ball which got stuck in the beams in 1813. You will visit the warder’s apartment, which was inhabited from 1533 to 1917 and stretches across three levels. Finally, you will see the historic bells, which have all been preserved. You will learn about the message they spread during our tour.
